Asia Raye Miles (b. Sunnyside, WA) currently living in Bangkok, Thailand with her family and working across drawing and fiber mediums. 

Statement

I create work that frames the natural world and ourselves as an invitation to wonder.

My process embodies an unhurried softness that builds in interconnected layers and spirals. I gradually pull in new pigments and fibers to nudge the work toward its intended whole. This way of working reflects my life that grows forward while simultaneously cycling back over the same places, questions, themes, and dreams I have already lived.

Impulses of my western efficiency and eastern rumination circle each other in my creative process. This whirlpool gives way to themes that evolve, loop, or teeter between forms: winged insects and their cocoons, motherhood as rebirth, the spiritual world, and God.
